We're doing decorating for Merritt's first Christmas, and she seems to be enjoying all the new colors and lights and textures. We'll add more photos as we finish the house, but wanted to add this photo of Merritt's first exposure to a Christmas tree. Enjoy!
November 6th will be Merritt's half birthday! I cannot wrap my head around this at all. She has doubled in size. She'll be weighed next week, but I'm guessing she is over 16 lbs now, a sack of taters! She remains the coolest baby ever. Such a happy girl! We love her :) Here's some video of her from over the weekend:
We are in the process of trying her on new foods. Right now she tries a new food each week. She has been very cooperative and likes sweet potatoes, pears, peaches, peas, squash and applesauce. She also gets cereal twice a day. There's one food she hasn't quite figured out how to eat yet:
Meantime, Merritt had her first Halloween last week...and for those of you not in the know, she had the most unique costume in her daycare class - see if you can tell the difference:
Finally, winter is almost here, and Grammy and Pop-Pop Chaump bought "the bear" (Merritt that is) her first snow suit. It says its for 6-9 months, but I suspect the size is a little off. What do you think?
We fed Merritt veggies for the first time this weekend, about half a jar of sweet potatoes. After some initial hesitancy (including making some faces typically reserved for her father), she dove right in and enjoyed the meal. Next up on the menu - either carrots or bananas...stay tuned!
Meantime, we're preparing for some orange colored poopies in the next few days...
This weekend Merritt is 4 and a half months old. She is such a happy baby. She loves to talk, smile, play and figure things out. She is slowly starting to giggle and we get sooo excited! Her teachers at daycare say she doesn't miss much, very alert. She can roll over both ways. Her upper body is getting stronger and she is gaining more control of her arms and legs. Her movements are more purposeful now; she grabs at faces, toys, blankets, binkis, anything she wants to explore and wants to put everything in her mouth. She has officially become a thumb baby. She reminds me of Sarah as a itter bitter; she grabs a bit of blanket up by her face and sucks her thumb. She is becoming more independent. She doesn't need me or Tom 24/7 anymore, she can entertain herself. We bought her a walker and she LOVES it! She amazes herself that she can move around and have a say where she goes.......she is starting the walking process!!!! Unbelievable! She still (thank goodness) sleeps through the night 10-12 hours! No, this is not an exaggeration and yes, we know how lucky we are :) Last weekend we started her on cereal and she is doing pretty well. She doesn't hate it, but still doesn't know how to keep the mushy stuff in her mouth. On 9/10 at her 4month check up, she weighed 13 lbs 13 oz and measured 25 3/4 in. She is still pretty long and lean, but is slowly starting to fill out. I am absolutely in love with this little human! She is the best, coolest, most awesome baby in the world! I love being, not just a mom, but her mom!
We took Merritt to Valley Forge National Park this weekend (see link for more info on Valley Forge) and snapped the above shot. One of the highlights of Grandpa Jerry's visit to Philly over the Labor Day weekend.
More cute pics of our nose picking daughter, Merritt, ranging from 9-11 weeks. The little girl in the one photo with her is Haley's goddaughter, Sophia Deyermond.
