Merritt had her first exposure to other babies on Saturday, when our friends Lynn and Leah visited with their two little boys, Joey (3 months) and Joaquin (6 months). Leah and her husband Augusto are professional photographers and snapped the amazing photos below. Merritt enjoyed the visitors - hope you enjoy the pics!

I'm hearing that everyone loves the photo taken at Merritt's first pediatrician appointment. I took that photo using my camera phone, something I'm getting a lot of practice with lately (all the initial hospital pics those early days were from my phone).

Taking a break from dodging projectile baby crap to post some photos of Merritt's afro adventure today. Enjoy while I go wash off.

Merritt's First Pediatrician Appointment

We had our first pediatrician appointment this morning and received some great news - Merritt now weighs 7 lbs 15 oz! This is 1 oz above her birth weight, and 6 oz more than what she weighed last Friday. Babies typically lose weight for a short period of time after they're born - at her lowest, Merritt weighed 7 lbs 7 oz - so the weight gain shows us that she's feeding enough. Apparently this is some exceptional gain (according to the nurse and doctor) - so she's well on her way to becoming a Michelin baby!

She's also grown 3/4 of an inch since her birth - good news all around.

One more day...

Hello from Bryn Mawr Hospital!

Just one day left here at the hospital before we finally get to go home tomorrow. Things have been great - Merritt is feeding really well, she and Haley have finally come to an understanding and are definitely on the same page. Today we've fed her longer than (and with zero aid from the nurses) any other day since we've had her, a great accomplishment that really makes us feel ready to come home.

Otherwise, Merritt does very little but eat, sleep and soil her diapers - not a big deal, its what babies do I guess. Yesterday was filled with good feeding and lots of sleep, which made things a little interesting around 3AM when she wanted to hang out with Mom and Dad - resulting in a long night for me. Still, she's been great and we're really excited to have her!

As for video/photo updates, look for a few more once we're home tomorrow - I'll do my best to upload all the videos by Sunday. Until then, feel free to comment on the blog...
