I know I'm her mom, but I swear Merritt is a genius! Tom, Sarah and I counted how many words she knows and can pronounce. She turned 15 months last Thursday and this lil' Chaump can say over 35 words!!!!! She's our first kid, but that's got to be some kind of record. She was at the lunch table at school last week and saw a baby take another baby's sippy cup and Merritt said "not nice, not nice!" She can point to her eyes, nose, mouth, hair and ears. I finally got her to say please, but it sounds more like peeeeeeezz. So cute! I say it all day everyday, but I love my kid!
So it has been a long time since we've updated the blog. But all that stuff you hear about being out of touch b/c your a parent and little kids keep you busy is ALL TRUE! :) Merritt is fabulous. She is now walking all over the place. She loves being outside and sings and chats all day. She says hi and bye to nearly every person or animal she passes. We love, love, love her! She is so fun and sweet as pie. We will grab some video of her walking this weekend.
You may have heard about Merritt's crib (mis)adventures - if not, here's a quick recap:
Now that she's crawling and is a "big girl," Merritt no longer wants to lay on her back like a good baby during bed time. Instead, she's gotten into the habit of rolling around in the middle of the night and sitting up in an attempt to spring herself from crib jail.
We'll, we've now gotten this behavior on tape, nanny-cam style - enjoy:
2009 was brought the realization that our girl will turn ONE this year! Merritt is 8 and a 1/2 months and this is such a great age. She is very responsive, expressive and loud! She always has something to say, even though it isn't English....yet. She does say dada, mama, baba, and deedee. She is super curious/nosy; she will hear something and break her neck to find out where the sound came from. She can get to all fours from a sitting position, but doesn't crawl yet. She is eating all sorts of stuff. She gets protein, veggies, fruits, and cereal everyday. She can feed herself little puffs or pieces of cereal and gum them until they are mushy enough to swallow (still no teeth). She can take bites of an actual banana :) Ok, there's the update! Enjoy
